AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library recently acquired a new Sindoh 3D printer, and will offer two December workshops to introduce it to library visitors.

The hour-long sessions are at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13. They will be held in the Androscoggin Community Room on the ground level of the library. They’re free and open to the public.

Participants will explore the basics of 3D printing, review the library’s policies and procedures and learn how to search for 3D printing projects. A printer demonstration will be offered, and attendees will have the opportunity to schedule printer time to create their personal projects.

The acquisition of the 3D printer was made possible by a grant from a donor-advised fund through the Maine Community Foundation. The grant also provided funds for a new Mac Air and two iPads for public use at the library.
