1946 – 2016

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Kenneth Edward Marr, 70, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Lewiston died Saturday, Nov. 19, after an unexpected battle with cancer.

Ken was born Sept. 24, 1946, to the late Ralph and Yvonne (Lessard) Marr. He attended Saint Patrick’s School in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1965. Ken was a 1966 graduate of North Yarmouth Academy Prep School and attended Maine Maritime Academy and Ricker College, graduating with a degree in history. Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1975.

Ken spent his professional career in sales and was employed by Lee Auto for the majority of his career, working at the Honda dealership for 21 years until his retirement to Vero Beach, Fla., in 2015.

Ken married Gail-Mont Wing on April 2, 1982, and together they made their home in the Lewiston-Auburn area raising four children. Ken was an active member of the Lewiston-Auburn Youth Soccer Association and was a coach for his children’s teams for many years. Ken possessed a true and unwavering love for his children and grandchildren and remained committed to his family through even the hardest of times.

Ken is survived by his life partner of 34 years, Gail-Mont W. Marr; his daughter, Jessica Marr and her partner, Marc Gosselin, of Lewiston; his son, Nicholas Marr and his partner, Erin Dehetre, of Lewiston; his son, Jeremy Ladd of Winthrop; and his daughter, Melissa Gagnon and her husband, Timothy Gagnon, of Brunswick. “Papa,” as he was affectionately called by his entire family, also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Tahjah, Evelyn and Sebastian Marr, Jack Belisle, Tucker and Tannar Gagnon, Daxton Ladd, and Katelynn and Nicholas Dehetre. He is also survived by many cousins; and his cat, Bizzle.
