1949 – 2016

RUMFORD — Michael Dane Curato, 67, passed away at his home on Penobscot Street, Rumford, on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

Dane was born in Rumford on Feb. 25, 1949, the son of Lawrence and Adelia (Meisner) Curato. He was a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford and held an associate degree in applied sciences. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era in the Army Security Agency. He worked for Boise Cascade and Mead Paper Mill in Rumford.

Dane was a communicant of the Parish of The Holy Savior St. Athanasius-St. John Church; he was a member and former chaplain of Robert Shand Post No. 24, American Legion; Fourth Degree member of Fr. Ambrose J. Barry Council No. 2091; member of Gorizia Lodge No. 467, Sons of Italy; member of the Oakdale Country Club in Mexico where he served on the board of directors; he was also an avid New York Yankees fan.

Dane was married in Rumford on May 29, 1971, to Marie Cunningham, who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include three daughters, Tracy Prather and her husband, Scott, of Smyrna, Ga., Cara Vicari and her husband, Keith, of Rumford, Lani Bisson and husband, Jeff, of Rumford; grandchildren, Jackson Bisson and Lola Bisson of Rumford, Michael and Mary Claire Prather of Smyrna, Ga.; two sisters, Andrea Goff and her husband, Del, of New Castle, Del.. and Carla Beaudoin and her husband, Marc, of Gorham; a brother, Randy Curato and his wife, Mary Pat, of Wheaton, Ill.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Bruce Curato.
