1945 – 2016
LEWISTON — David Mitchell Green, 71, a long time resident of Lewiston, Sabattus and Palm Bay, Fla., passed away in Lewiston on Sunday, Nov. 20, following a year-long battle with cancer.
David was born in Lewiston on March 14, 1945, the son of Sherwood and Laura Durrell Green. He grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of ’63, where he met his high school sweetheart, Arlene Dallaire. He started his career at Sampson’s Supermarket and then was transferred to Ted’s, Shop N’ Save and Hannaford. He was a meat cutter, meat manager, and seafood manager for a total of 50 years. Store officials said he was breaking records throughout the company. Many employees would say he was a prankster.
Some of his hobbies and interests were building dollhouses and fixing and selling wrecked autos. He also enjoyed motorcycling with Arlene and great life long friends.
He was the president of the “Mid Maine Motorcycle Club” and also the president of the M.O.A.L.S. Antique Auto Club, where he enjoyed showing his antique autos.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Arlene; son, Brian Green and his significant other, Sandra Colter; daughters, Donna Green and her partner, Linda Cantara, and Candy McIntyre and her husband, William McIntyre Sr.; his grandchildren, Tyler Green, Libby McIntyre, and William McIntyre Jr. He has many nieces, nephews and cousins located throughout the country. He had many life long friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Delmont; and a sister, Shirley.
He will be missed by all.
