1918 – 2016
AUBURN — Hazel May Pillsbury, 98, of Strong passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.
She was born on March 7, 1918, in Dallas Plantation, the daughter of Lyle and Lena (Clark) Ross. She was educated in the schools of Dallas Plantation. On Sept. 28, 1941, she married Charles Oscar Pillsbury in Phillips and he predeceased her on Sept. 13, 2002.
While raising her family, she worked at Forster Manufacturing Company. Then in her later years, she worked as an inspector at G.H. Bass & Co. in Wilton, retiring in 1980. She had made her home in Strong since 1985.
Hazel was a charter member of the Strong Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed knitting and cooking.
She is survived by her son, Stanley L. Ross and wife, Marie, of Old Orchard Beach; her daughters, Carol A. Boyd of Strong and Cathy L. Pinkham of Strong; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Pillsbury (2002); her son, Norris W. Pillsbury (1996); her sisters, Evelyn A. Collins (1999) and Elsie Presby (2010); her brothers, Leonard W. Ross (1993) and Norris Ross (1940).
