1926 – 2016
AUBURN — Beatrice C. Verville, 90, of Lewiston passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 20, at Clover Manor after a brief stay.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1926, in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of Phydime and Lillian (Gagnon) Cloutier. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1944, and began her working career at the Continental Mill. She later worked at Twin City Cleaners, Louis Chevrolet and Bates College from July 1977 up until her retirement in July 1992.
Beatrice will be remembered for her smile and zest for life. Creating memories was among her many passions. She was a talented seamstress, making heirloom quilts for her children and grandchildren, which will keep “memere’s” legacy in eternity. She was active in the Knights of Columbus, she taught line dancing, enjoyed bowling, crocheting, knitting, senior bus trips, playing cards, entertaining family and friends in the “Bright Spot,” singing, playing the organ and telling stories.
She was proud of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her proudest accomplishments was the weaving together of three families — she did so with much love and grace. Her magnetic personality drew people to her and she always welcomed them with open arms, a smile, and a twinkle in her eye.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond G. Verville of Lewiston, whom she married on Nov. 28, 1997; her daughters, Joann (Breton) Darling and husband, Ronald, Pauline (Breton) Dionne and husband, Richard, Diane Bell and wife, Cynthia Sammis, Claire (Bell) Schmoll and husband, Derek; and a son, James Bell and wife, Patricia; her grandchildren, Alfred Darling and wife, Amber, Zachary Schmoll and wife, Margaret, Kaitlin (Bell) Macias and husband, Kyle, Lauren (Bell) Abate and husband, Gerard, Nicholas Dionne; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She also had four stepchildren, Ronald Verville and wife, Lorna, Diane Bognot and husband, Vic, Claude Verville and wife, Sheri, and Joanne Blouin; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Breton, who passed away in January 1970; and her second husband, Arthur Bell, who passed away in February 1993; and a sister, Anna Bisson.
The family would like to thank Peggy, Doris and Joyce from Friends Alternatives for taking care of mom and loving her so dearly throughout these last several months and the caring staff at Clover Manor and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
