1960 – 2016
AUBURN — Lynne A. LeSuer, of Livermore, passed away with her loving wife, Melanie, by her side Friday, Nov. 25, at Clover Manor in Auburn.
Born in Farmington on March 30, 1960, Lynne was the daughter of Donald and Shirley (Burhoe) LeSuer. She was a graduate of Jay High School and the University of Maine at Farmington where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1982. Lynne earned a Master of Education in literacy from the University of Maine in Orono in 1999. She also completed reading recovery training in 1996.
Lynne worked at Jay Elementary School for 31 years as a kindergarten teacher. She was a skilled teacher of early literacy and a proponent of full-day kindergarten. Lynne aspired to provide high-quality experiences for all students over the years and took pride in her students’ success. As a member of the PTO, Lynne helped to bring the joy of the holidays to many children as she shopped, wrapped and delivered much-needed clothes and toys for over 15 years.
Lynne also served her community as a volunteer. She was involved with the United Way and sat on the board of the Jay-Niles Memorial Library, which she affectionately dubbed “her library.” She loved to roam through the stacks of the adult and children’s sections.
Lynne loved music, art, theater and dance. She sang professionally with the trio The Three of Us for a few years. Lynne saw many musicals on Broadway with friends and was a patron of the Community Little Theatre in Auburn for several years.
Lynne enjoyed helping people and did so with an open heart. Having survived breast cancer, she considered herself lucky and looked for ways to help and support other women in the area. She attended the local Race for the Cure events. She also attended statewide events in Bangor and Portland, surrounded by loving friends. She twice attended the Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure event in Washington, D.C. She was proud of and grateful to the Jay and Livermore community for the support shown breast cancer research.
One of Lynne’s favorite things to do was to travel. She loved her yearly trips to Cape Cod with her mom, childhood friend Randi and, in later years, with Melanie. Lynne loved the ocean and didn’t pass up opportunities to explore and discover new beaches, whether it was along the coast of Maine or in several of the Caribbean islands. Lynne twice went to Europe, first with family and friends to France and then with her wife to Italy. Her last two trips included Oahu, Hawaii, and the Florida Keys, to swim with dolphins as she had always wanted.
Lynne will be remembered as a devoted wife and partner, loving daughter, sister, auntie, loyal friend and compassionate educator.
Lynne is survived by her wife, Melanie Chasse, of Livermore; her parents, Donald and Shirley of Jay; her brother, Donald, and sister, Lori (Lorraine), and their spouses. She is also survived by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bob and Carolyn Chasse; and a brother-in-law, Bobby. Lynne held very dear to her heart her nieces and nephews. Lynne had the love of many close friends and considered them family as well.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Galway Unit at Clover Manor and the staff of the Androscoggin Hospice House for the kind and loving care they provided to Lynne. Also, a heartfelt thank-you to Trudy Gagne-Moxcey for her hours of loving care provided to Lynne.
Tributes and condolences may be shared on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
