1924 – 2016

JEFFERSON, Iowa — Claudette Doris Stampe, 92, passed away peacefully at the Greene County Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 24, with loved ones present.

Claudette was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Lewiston, to Joseph and Emelda (Grenier) Moreau. She married her first husband, Arthur Robert May, on April 13, 1942. At the end of World War II, they moved to Arthur’s hometown of Jefferson, Iowa, in 1946. They had eight children. She married her second husband, Hans Marius Stampe on May 11, 1957. They had four children.

Claudette is survived by her children, Gloria May Clifford, Joseph May, Claudette May Sherlock, Susan May Worley, Mathias May, Daniel May, Teresa May Manring, Karen May McCleeary, Susanna Stampe Hoffman, Christian Stampe, Kathrina Stampe Zieser, Paulette Stampe; 36 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and spiritual friends.
