LEWISTON — Three different players scored two goals apiece for Winslow/Gardiner to help the Black Tigers hold off Lewiston, 7-6, in a back-and-forth contest at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Wednesday.

Evelyn Hinkley, Anna Chadwick and Sarah Morgan each netted a pair for the visitors in the win. Gabrielle Hebert added the seventh Winslow/Gardiner (1-1) goal.

Anna Dodge netted a hat trick to pace the Blue Devils (1-1), while Adri Roy added a pair of goals in the loss.

The Devils’ Camree St. Hilaire started the game in the cage, and Meagan Gosselin entered the game early in the third frame and finished out the contest.

Winslow/Gardiner’s Cassie Derrug earned the win between the pipes for the Tigers.

Holderness 6, Hebron 2

PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Hebron’s Phil Gilmour and Luke Grainger each tallied a goal and an assist, but it wasn’t enough to hold off a four-goal onslaught in the second period by Holderness, which held on for a 6-2 victory in both teams’ NEPSAC prep ice hockey opener Wednesday night.

Jake Renzi notched a hat trick for Holderness, including back-to-back goals that put Holderness ahead to stay in the second period. Matt Pasic added a pair of goals for the Blue Bulls. 

Logan Bateman was outstanding in net for Holderness, turning away 41 Hebron shots. Nick Howard made 26 saves in net for the Lumberjacks, who outshot Holderness, 43-32.

Men’s Basketball

Babson 87, Bates 53

BABSON PARK, Mass. — Babson College took its first lead less than a minute into the game and never looked back in its 87-53 men’s basketball victory over Bates College on Wednesday.

Malcolm Delpeche and Max Hummel scored 10 points apiece to pace the Bobcats’ lowest-scoring output of the season. Delpeche also grabbed six rebounds and blocked five shots. He is now two blocks away from breaking the school record of 127 set by Dave Larrivee in 1988.

Bates (3-2) returns to action at Husson University in Bangor on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
