Hours after the attack in an apartment at 343 Pine St., police charged 29-year-old Jose Pena of Lewiston with elevated aggravated assault.

Police said the victim was shot in the left arm and the wound is not considered life threatening.

The victim has not been identified.

The man first went to the emergency department at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, where police were called at 4:59 a.m. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center, police said.
