1937 – 2016
AUGUSTA — Raymond R. Beaulieu, 79, of 14 Fox Run Dr., Lewiston, was welcomed home by his Virgin Mary on Friday, Dec. 2, at Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta after a period of declining health.
Born in Lewiston on Oct. 1, 1937, he was the son of Joseph A. Beaulieu and Lilliane A. (Houle) Beaulieu.
Ray graduated from St. Peter’s School in 1952 and St. Dominc’s High School in 1956. Ray proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a band member playing the trumpet from 1957 to 1961. He was stationed at Maguire AFB in Trenton, N.J., Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska, and West Palm Beach AFB in Florida. Ray was proud to have played at the inauguration of Presidents Kennedy and Eisenhower.
Ray married Carmen Bedard in 1965 and had three children, Lisa, Marc and Brian.
He was employed for 32 years at Hall & Knight Hardware in sales and as a buyer. He also worked as Lewiston Housing in the maintenance department and as courtesy driver for Lee Auto in Auburn for several years.
Ray was a member of the Knights of Columbus a 3rd degree. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish.
Ray was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching his two sons play sports and watching Boston hockey, baseball and football. He also looked forward to his bus trips to Canada to see the Bruins play the Montreal Canadiens. He was on a weekly bowling league at Holiday Lanes. Ray enjoyed played cards with multiple generations of family.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 51 years, Carmen A. Beaulieu of Lewiston; his daughter and son-law, Lisa and Toby Jutras of Litchfield; son, Marc Beaulieu of Lewiston; and son and daughter–in-law, Brian and Sandy Beaulieu of Lewiston. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Nathan St.Pierre, Greg and Melanie Jutras; and great-grandson, Samuel Jutras.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Claudette at birth; and brother, Gerard.
