Honey Bee club potluck

PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club will be have its annual potluck holiday party at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Oxford County Extension Center, 9 Olson Road.

Those attending should bring a dish to share. OHHBC will supply ham and presents from Santa.

This will be the last 2016 club meeting. The club will elect 2017 officers.

Rabies clinic Dec. 10

OXFORD — A rabies clinic will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Oxford Recreation building on King Street. 

Rabies vaccinations will be offered for pets. 

Kids’ holiday arts, crafts party 

BRIGTON — St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Women’s Initiative Group will sponsoring a free holiday arts and crafts party for children from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Bridgton Community Center, 14 Depot St.

Santa’s workshop at St. Luke’s

WILTON — Each year, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wilton provides area children an opportunity to shop for inexpensive gifts at Santa’s Workshop for their adult loved ones.

While children shop with the help of elves, adults are treated to refreshments in the kitchen. The children then have their finds gift wrapped. Items are arranged on tables by price, most ranging between only 25 cents and one dollar.

This is a community outreach program. All of the funds received go directly back into the program for the next year. In addition, parishioners make donations of gifts for purchase.

Santa’s Workshop will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at 59 High St.

Responsible Pet Care open house

PARIS — Responsible Pet Care will hold a Holiday Open House from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 10 and 11, at 9 Swallow Road.

There will be door prizes, raffles, refreshments, and a donation tree.

Witt’s End 5-Mile Trail Run

NORWAY — Western Foothills Land Trust will host the Witt’s End 5-Mile Trail Run at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Shepard’s Farm Preserve, 121 Crockett Ridge Road.

This will be a 5-mile walk and run on the newly completed 2.5 mile mountain bike and hiking trail that meanders around Witt Swamp between Crockett Ridge and Pleasant Street. The trail tread is machined and the terrain is gentle.

The entry fee in advance is $10 with pre-registration online; the day of, the fee will be $15 on site, and registration will open at 9 a.m. Proceeds will benefit trail maintenance.

The race will start in the open field at Shepard’s Farm Preserve, with the course winding around Bernard Langlais sculptures, and will proceed into the woods and onto the newly completed Witt’s End Trail. At 2.5 miles, there will be a water station and turn around. Participants may run or walk.

Freshly baked pies and cookies will be the prizes for top three male and female adults and top three males and females younger than 16.
