Sand Buckets for Seniors
AUBURN — Auburn Public Services will offer the Sand Buckets for Seniors program for the third consecutive year.
Through this campaign, APS employees provide and deliver a free bucket of sand for senior citizens living in Auburn. Recipients use this sand on their walkways, steps and driveways to make them safer during the snowy/icy winter months.
Auburn homeowners who are 65 and older and wish to receive a free bucket of sand should contact APS by Friday, Dec. 16, to enroll.

First Auburn Senior Citizens to meet
AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will have a regular meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7.
Those attending should bring a bag lunch, cup and utensils. Bingo will be played.
The board meeting will be held at 10 a.m.
A Thanksgiving dinner was enjoyed by 62 members at the Carriage House in Lewiston. 50/50 winners were Jean Guy Vincent, Lucy Cowles and Helen Marsh.
A special Pot of Gold drawing was held, and the winners were Lydia Martineau, June McGinnley, Roland Douglas, Suzzanne Blanchard, Irene Fraser, Carol LePage, Leroy Walker, Joyce Poole, Evelyn Sawin and Paul Mikkelsen.
WLU Winter Splendor open house
AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union will host a Winter Splendor open house from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 10, 11, 17 and 18, at Foss Mansion, 19 Elm St.
The cost is $5 for adults and free for children.

World Wide Candle Lighting
AUBURN — The Compassionate Friends annual World Wide Candle Lighting will take place on Sunday, Dec. 11, at East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Ave.
The program will begin at 6:45 p.m., with the lighting of candles at 7 p.m. A light meal will follow.
This is an international event where parents, grandparents and siblings join to honor children who died too soon. In every time zone across the globe, candles are lit at 7 p.m. so that for 24 hours, lights shine for loved ones.

Santa’s Parade of Trees
MECHANIC FALLS — American Legion Post 150 will host Santa’s Parade of Trees, where visitors can win a Christmas tree with decorations and presents, a 50/50 and other raffles.
Visitors can see the trees and enter raffles by visiting the Post at 41 Elm St.:
• 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Dec. 12 to 15;
• 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16; and
• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.
Winners will be drawn at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.
Lewiston Bridge Club lists results
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on Nov. 28 were, tied for first/second, Judy Abromson and Rosemarie Goodwin with Jeanine Kivus and Roger Labbe; and third, Barbara Red and Jim Krainin.
Winners on Nov. 29 were, first, Sharron Hinckley and Fred Letourneau; second, Jan and Vern Arey; third, Les Buzzell and Mike True; fourth, Marta Clements and Dick Allen; and first in B, Sue Kaluzynski and Kathy Burden.
Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is guaranteed and all bridge players are welcome.
