What Lisbon lacks in size it makes up for in versatility.

Take Jasmin Le for example. Despite being only 5-foot-7, Le, the Greyhounds’ top returning scorer, will spend time in the post. But that’s not the only place she’ll play.

“She’s one we can move around,” Lisbon coach Julie Petrie said. “That’s something good about our girls, they’re all interchangeable.”

Another example is Le’s sister, Kaylin Le. She’ll start the season at point guard. Petrie is hoping to move her around and give freshman Giana Russo time at the point.

Jasmine Le is the team’s top returning scorer. With last year’s other top scorer, Bree Sautter, having graduated, Petrie said the scoring will have to be spread around in 2016-17.

Points also will likely will come from transition. The Greyhounds might be small, but they’re also a defensive-minded bunch

“Defense, I think, is our strong suit,” Petrie said. “We’re pretty scrappy. We’re going to hopefully feed off that to create offense. That’s something they take pride in.”

Sautter was the only senior on last year’s team, so Lisbon returns considerable experience, highlighted by seniors Jasmin and Kaylin Le, Ali Sult, Bree Daigle and Kipri Steele.

Last season the Greyhounds finished 7-11 and a few games outside of the postseason. They’re looking to rectify that last year.

“We want to get to Portland, that’s our goal,” Petrie said.
