LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District has announced its district supervisors for 2017.
Kathleen Shaw of Auburn and Benjamin Dearnley of Bowdoinham have been elected to the board of supervisors. Katherine Carville of Lisbon Falls has been appointed to a supervisor position.
The board of supervisors is comprised of three elected supervisors and two appointed supervisors.
The board directs programs to assist individuals, groups and municipalities with their conservation needs.
AVSWCD is a legal subdivision of the state of Maine government, established to assist local communities in teaching proper land use to maintain fertility, prevent flooding and erosion, maintain and restore wildlife habitats, and protect water supply. This is achieved through technical assistance, education and outreach, and implementation of conservation practices.
