FARMINGTON — More than 70 animal lovers participated in the 3rd annual Strut for Strays! 5K Trail Run and Dog Walk on Chester Greenwood Day Saturday. 

Thanks to race registrations and the generous sponsorship from local businesses, nearly $1,500 was raised for the Franklin County Animal Shelter.

The overall first-place finisher was Steven Russell with a finish time of 20:31. Other first-in-category finishers included Danielle Wilson, individual, age 5-10 years old; Gabe Eustis, individual, age 11-19 years old; Jessica Cronin and Heman Norris, individual, age 20-40 years old; Karen Hardy and Earl Richards, individual, age 41-60 years old; and Theresa Forster and Steven Russell, individual, age 60+ years old.

Rebecca Brockway won the random drawing for one night’s lodging and free breakfast donated by the Comfort Inn of Wilton. The final finish times for all participants are available on the shelter’s website at www.fcanimalshelter.org.
