1937 – 2016
NORWAY — Lyndall B. McCaughin, 79, of Norway, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, Dec. 9, at her earthly home in Norway, surrounded by her five children.
She was born, Lyndall Long Barnes on March 19, 1937, in Providence, R.I., the second of three daughters to George and Doris (Plumb) Barnes.
Lyndall married Archie J. McCaughin in Cranston, R.I., on Nov. 8, 1958. Together they raised four daughters and a son.
In 1972, the Naval Air Force base that Archie was working at as a civil servant closed. Lyndall, Archie and their five children relocated to San Diego, Calif., where they resided for 16 years.
Upon his retirement in 1988, they relocated to Maine where they enjoyed many years of retirement.
Lyndall was an active member of the Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish. She enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting and most of all, her eight grandchildren.
Lyndall is survived by her children, Patricia McCaughin of Norway, Katherine Garfield and her husband, Peter, of Salem, Va., Lyndall Field and her husband, Howard, of South Paris, Anne True of Greene and John McCaughin of Auburn; eight grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Fitzgerald of Texas.
She was predeceased by her husband, Archie; a sister, Shirley Jackson.
