1928 – 2016

FARMINGTON — Julia Love Allison, 88, of Rangeley died Saturday, Dec. 17, at Sandy River Center in Farmington after a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 31, 1928, in Chester County, S.C., to Angie McNeil Love and Oscar Darby Love. Julia married George A. Allison in 1948 and made her home in Rangeley, raising a family of seven children. She enjoyed family gatherings, working a vegetable garden and doing crafts of all kinds. Her favorite craft activity was crocheting pineapple designs and rug-braiding. She took pride in her ability to keep walking into her later years. She was a member of Rangeley Congregational Church.

Julia’s husband of 66 years passed away in January 2015.

She is survived by one sister, Laura Delancey of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Irene Huntoon and Jean Gaines Markewycz. Julia is also survived by three sons, George L. and Donna of Durham, N.C., Gerald and Carol of Rangeley, Warren and Michelle of Gorham; and four daughters, Nancy and Michael Moorman of Readfield, June and Paul McCarthy of Severna Park, Md., Belle White and companion, Cliff, of Rangeley and Judy Dyer of Falmouth; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was a kind, gentle person, always giving a visitor something she made or something from her garden.
