AUBURN — Laurette M. Dennis, 90, of Auburn passed away peacefully at Clover Manor in Auburn on Tuesday, Dec. 20, with her family by her side.
She was born in Livermore Falls, a daughter of the late Joseph and Euphemie (Thibault) LePage. She grew up in the Livermore Falls area and attended local schools there.
She moved to Lewiston as a teenager where she started working in various shoe shops as a stitcher. During that time, she had met Roland Dennis, with whom she played rather “hard to get” but eventually developed a serious relationship with. The two were married May 21, 1949, at St. Mary’s Church in Lewiston and started a family together.
Laurette loved going dancing with him and their friends. She was always known as a very social and “on-the-go” person. She always stayed very active. Some of her passions included cooking, reading, working on and making jigsaw puzzles, spending time by the ocean and walking on the beach. Laurette took great pride in her very large family and loved spending time with them and taking care of them, especially her many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her children, Susan Blais and her husband, Armand, of Lewiston, Peter Dennis and his wife, Lorrie-Ann, of Greene, Richard Dennis and his wife, Ann, of Lewiston, Patricia Lavoie of Poland and Debra Bernard and her husband, Barry, of Lewiston. She also leaves behind her 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Roland; four brothers; six sisters; and two great-grandsons.
Condolences may be shared with her family at www.thefortingrouplewiston.com.
