AUBURN — Acting upon growing research indicating the benefits of fitness for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, is offering a fitness program for those living with dementia and their care partners.

Reservations are being accepted for the winter sessions of Mindful Mobility Program, offered by the YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston. Cost for the program is $40 per couple (a person with dementia and their care partner) for eight weekly sessions.

Mindful Mobility will start on Friday, Jan. 20, running from 10 to 11 a.m.

This programs is specifically designed for those diagnosed with dementia and focuses on building strength, balance and mobility in a friendly, supportive environment. Screening may be required to determine if the program is appropriate for potential participants.

Registration is required and limited to eight couples for each program, so early registration is highly recommended.
