1931 – 2016
LEWISTON — Jeanne D’arc Doyon, 85, of Lewiston passed away in the early morning of Saturday, Dec. 24, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on Aug. 2, 1931, in Auburn, a daughter of the late Emile and Jeanne (Boilard) Letourneau. She attended Lewiston High School and graduated in 1950. She married Donald F. Doyon on May 30, 1952.
Jeanne found herself happiest when she was surrounded by her family. They were her number one priority, which was evident by showering each of them an overwhelming amount of love, support and affection.
She worked at Knapp Shoe for more than 20 years and then worked for the General Electric company for more than 15 years.
Through the years Jeanne loved to go on trips whether it was a long trip to Italy or a short trip to a local casino. She was always so pleased to be on a bus trip with family and friends. She enjoyed playing bingo and socializing with friends at the Auburn Seniors Club, the Robin Dow Seniors, and the Sabattus Seniors. She was a member of the Red Hatters and loved doing things for those in need. This included providing clothes and toys for families during the holiday season as well as providing food and supplies to local shelters. She also loved to knit, crochet, sew and read.
She is survived by her loving husband, Don, with whom she was married 65 years, of Lewiston; her two sons, Dan Doyon and his wife, Eileen, of Portsmouth, N.H., Peter Doyon and his wife, Sandra, of Lewiston; and daughter, Donna Sears and her husband, Steven, of Seabrook, N.H. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren, Chris Doyon, Ashley LaChance and her husband, Matthew, Amber Sears and Kerri Sears; and a great-granddaughter, Maddyx LaChance.
She was predeceased by her sister, Yolande Custeau.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and the Hospice House. Their patient, caring and loving ways helped make this journey go smoothly. We can’t put into words our gratitude for all of the staff that helped and supported us through this difficult time.
Condolences may be shared with her family at www.thefortingrouplewiston.com.
