LEWISTON — Twin City Spinners is offering two chances to try dancing for free.

Community dances will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 5 and 12, at Martel Elementary School.

A new 10-week class will run 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Jan. 19. The cost is $45 per dancer. 

Along with exercise, it’s a social event. It takes eight dancers to make a square, and they work together for success. Singles are welcome, and partners are encouraged. 

Those skeptical should erase the old image of square dancing. Today’s dancing is done to music from the best of country, rock, disco, gospel, hip-hop and bluegrass.
