100 years ago, 1916
One of Lewiston’s kindly disposed citizens, touched by the appeal for help for the family where sickness temporarily has handicapped them, has supplied a generous amount of coal and wood which will tide the family over several weeks of this severe weather. Other kind friends of those in need have contributed ten dollars, others groceries, others clothing, and for the present the family is comfortably provided for.

50 years ago, 1966
(Photo Caption) Production will start in approximately two weeks in this new and unique sawmill at Leeds Junction, to be operated by Gustin Bros. Inc. The building has been erected and machinery installed since mid-November. The Gustin firm will manufacture cross-ties for the Koppers Company and the Maine Central Railroad and will also produce hardwood dimension lumber.

(Photo Caption) George Matthews, marketing representative, plays the guitar during a Christmas carol sing-along for clients of Pathways Inc. rehabilitation center in Auburn. The annual Christmas dinner and party, held before Christmas, was at the VFW Post on Minot Avenue. Caroling was followed by the dinner that was prepared and served by Pathway’s staff. The party ended with a visit from Santa Claus and gifts.
