LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus will offer Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention for those looking for an accessible, low-impact exercise program that will help manage pain and improve balance.

Tai Chi can help improve muscular strength, flexibility and fitness. Increasing muscular strength supports and protects joints, which will in turn reduce pain. Exercises that work on flexibility also help to reduce pain and stiffness, thus improving mobility and balance, which will reduce the rate of falls, letting older adults remain independent.

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention is a program that alleviates pain through simple exercises to increase strength and balance.

SeniorsPlus will offer an eight-week long Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention workshop from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays, Jan. 10 to March 3, in the Education Center at 8 Falcon Road. The Program cost is $40 and registration is required.
