1932 – 2016

LEWISTON — Ralph Cleveland Spencer Jr. died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, Dec. 28.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Constance Dumont Brousseau Spencer; and his children, Melodye, Brenda, Ralph and Carleton; stepchildren, Gloria, Linda, Rita, Patricia, Pamela, Dana, Garry and James. Although not all of his children were biological, if you were to ask him how many children he had, he would proudly answer 13 as he considered each one of them his own. He also leaves behind 34 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and his brother, Robert W. Spencer.

Ralph graduated from Edward Little High School in 1950 and entered the USMC shortly afterward. He worked maintenance for Decoster Egg Farm and the Cushman and Hollis Building. He raced during the 60s and 70s at Oxford Plains Speedway as “The Flying 5.” But, his most recent hobbies have been sharing hunting and fishing with his many grandchildren.

Husband, dad, stepdad, grampa, grampie and Grampa J., will be sadly missed by all.

Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Ruth Spencer; his daughter, Carol; his grandson, Michael; and his sister, Barbara.
