1934 – 2017
SOUTH PARIS — Donald J. Morin, 82, of 22 McNamara St., Lewiston, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather departed this life peacefully with his loving wife by his side Sunday, Jan. 1, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris after a long battle with dementia.
Donald was born Sept. 17, 1934, in Lewiston, to Arthur and Rita Gagne Morin. He graduated from Lewiston High School and served in the U.S. Navy.
He married the love of his life, Lauretta (Dubois) Morin, on Aug. 30, 1958. The most important thing to Don was spending time with his family.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Terrie and Norm Marcotte, Jackie and Karl Bonner, Andy and Pamela Morin and Irene and Lee Lacroix. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Jason and Danielle Marcotte, Nicole Labonté, Heather Bonar, Allison Bouchard, Cameron and Samuel Morin, Seth, Sara and Samson Lacroix; as well as five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard and Robert Molly Morin; a brother-in-law, Adrien and Selia Dubois; and many nieces and nephews.
Don was well-known in the community, having been a barber, postal worker and musician for many years. He was also very proud of being a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris for the wonderful care they gave Don; we will be forever grateful.
