1926 – 2017
AUBURN — Marie Rose Condon, 90, of Lewiston passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, with her grandniece by her side.
Born in Lewiston on May 23, 1926, the daughter of F.X. and Emelia (Moreau) Bilodeau, she was educated at St. Peter’s School in Lewiston and attended the Ave Maria School in Sabattus; she later graduated from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H., with a degree in chemistry. On June 28, 1968, she married Kenton Condon, who passed away on March 15, 1987, and today with the will of God are both reunited in a very special place.
She worked for many years as a lab technician for Bates Mill and Philips Elmet in Lewiston, and in her earlier years was involved with the family’s real estate business.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter and St. Paul Parish. Marie loved good food and socializing. Among her interests were gardening, traveling and cooking; she loved to make her famous red velvet cake for special family occasions. Her greatest pleasure in life, however, was the time she spent with her loving family and friends. She loved everyone she met and had an extensive correspondence list. Even during her later years, her Christmas letters were filled with interesting news and tidbits, all written in perfect Palmer Penmanship. Remembering everybody’s birthday was always very important to her. She remained young at heart, and enjoyed being involved in all family activities at her summer place in East Harpswell. Whether playing cards or croquet, we were always prepared for a few fun arguments discussing gamesmanship.
She is survived by a stepson, Richard Condon and wife, Colleen, of Farmington; and a stepdaughter, Mary and husband, Fred Clark, of Winslow; step-grandchildren, David Condon of St. Petersburg, Fla., Caroline Condon of Drogheda, Ireland, Robert Condon of Farmington, and Tom Clark of Winslow; a sister-in-law, Yolande Bilodeau of Auburn; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; and her lifelong friend, Rita Gosselin.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Dominique, and Second Lt. Rosaire Bilodeau; and four sisters, Emilia Doyon, Marguerite Bilodeau, Sister Gaetane Bilodeau and Lorette Toussaint.
The family of Marie Rose would like to sincerely thank the professional staff at the Hospice House for their truly dedicated and loving care in her final days.
