1924 – 2017

WEST PARIS — Shirley M. Matero, 92, of South Paris passed away Monday, Jan. 2, at Ledgeview Living Center.

She was born in Norway on Aug. 6, 1924, to Linwood and Hattie Morse. Shirley graduated from Buckfield High School in 1942. After being set up on a date, she married Wilho (Bill) Matero on Jan. 10, 1944. They had one son, Stanley Matero. Bill passed away in December 2001.

Shirley was employed and retired from Cornwall Wood Products. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking Sunday dinners and taking her grandchildren on trips and picnics. Her fudge will forever be missed.

She is survived by her son, Stanley and wife, Vickie, of South Paris; grandson, David Matero and wife, Cathy, and their son, Oskar of Bath; granddaughter, Karen Matero of Harpswell; grandson, Timothy Matero and wife, Angela, and their son, Jordan and stepsons, Aaron and Ryan Ecker of Rockland; a sister, Marilyn Bonney of Readfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, husband and brothers, Keith Morse and Bill Morse.
