Work is still in progress at the power station of the Lewiston, Augusta & Waterville Street Railway Co., at Hallowell, in the way of repairing the damage done to one of the generators when the armature burned out Wednesday afternoon, but several days will elapse before the generator will again be in commission, as it was necessary to send to New York in order to get certain parts. The company has, however, got its steam plant in operation and is getting nearly as much power to operate its cars as is furnished by the generators. P. E. Coombs of Nichols street, Lewiston, engineer for the L. A. & W. St. R. R. has gone to Hallowell to run the large engine there for the company, while repairs are being made on the machine that burned out.

Auburn City Councilmen talked about the use of power sleds on private property during their regular meeting Wednesday night, but took no action on establishing regulations governing the use of the sleds. Discussion of the power sleds resulted from a request by Ward One Councilman John W. White that the item be included on the agenda for meeting. “I knew when I put this or the agenda I’d stir up a hornet’s nest,” said White, “but I felt this was the best way to get to the public.”

Concerns about truck traffic on Old Lisbon Road could pave the way for the establishment of designated truck routes in Lewiston. An amendment to the city’s Traffic Schedule prohibiting most trucks from using Old Lisbon Road will be taken up by the City Council at its meeting on Tuesday. Council member Peter Grenier said residents in the area have contacted him about truck traffic on Old Lisbon Street. “I’ve received a few calls about logging trucks that use it as a shortcut to Russell Street instead of going down Lisbon Street to East Avenue.”
