PARSONSFIELD — A Maine town left without a plow after a big snowstorm is getting closer to plowed out, thanks to help from a neighboring town and the state.

The only plow truck driver for most of Parsonsfield quit after a storm that dumped 25 inches of snow on the town Dec. 30.

Local officials described the lack of a plow as an emergency for the southern Maine town of about 1,900.

A spokeswoman for the town says that workers from the Maine Department of Transportation and the nearby town of Cornish have been helping get roads back in shape.

The town’s website says roads will be in good enough shape to collect trash and recycling on Friday. The town is also working on a new long-term snowplow contract.
