1928 – 2017
SOUTH PARIS — George Allen Paine, 88, of South Paris died Wednesday evening, Jan. 4, at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris.
He was born on April 1, 1928, in East Oxford, to Edward and Beatrice (Young) Paine.
On Dec. 1, 1947, he married Pearl Helen Shortridge in South Paris where they made their home.
He was an energetic, hard working, and a “never give up” woodsman who had a love for family and the country life from raising pigs, to hunting and fishing trips with Pearl always by his side. Together with family they began Paine’s Carpentry doing siding on local buildings including, the Ripley Building, Norway Catholic Church and the South Paris Baptist Church.
Since receiving Christ as his personal savior, he was active in the South Paris Baptist Church. He and Pearl were youth leaders for a number of years and sang in the church choir. When Diane Muise filmed her live video, he and Pearl sang in the back up choir. They enjoyed going to Gospel concerts and always looked forward to spending Labor Day Weekend at Living Waters.
He is survived by a daughter, Caroline Paine of South Paris; a son, Anthony Paine and his wife, Joan (Jack), of South Paris; grandchildren, Lisa Keisman, Anna Cyr and her husband, Jason, and Anthony “Andy” Paine Jr. and his wife, Amy; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ethan and Mya Keisman, Blaine and Gwenna Cyr, and MacKenzie Daigle; brothers, Roger, and Gordon and wife, Celia; sisters-in-law, Elma Young and Eleanor Paine.
He was predeceased by his wife, Pearl; his parents; an infant son; brother, Wilson Paine and his wife, Mildred (Johnson), Dannie Paine, an infant brother.
