1953 – 2017

RAYMOND — Patton S. Griggs, 63, passed peacefully on the morning of Jan. 11, at her home on Raymond Pond with her family and some of her closest friends by her side.

She was born May 30, 1953, in Hartford, Conn.; one of two children to Roy and Carol (Comstock) Griggs. She was educated in the Newington School district and graduated in 1976 from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven with a Bachelor of Schience degree in marine biology; and in 1978 from the Yale School of Medicine – Therapeutic Radiology, with a certificate of completion in medical dosimetry.

Because she enjoyed so many summers with family on Prouts Neck in Scarborough, she moved to Maine shortly after completing her education; taking a full-time job at Maine Medical Center as a dosimetrist. In 1992, she began working for Physics Consultants Inc. as a contract physicist at CMMC in the Radiation Oncology Department. She planned on retiring in the spring.

Besides family and friends, Patton loved many out-of-doors activities, including skiing, swimming and kayaking. Her passion though, was golf, where she devoted every free moment to chasing that little white ball. She was a member of Fairlawn Country Club in Poland where she was reigning champ and had been for several years. She was very active in many golf leagues, including Fairlawn Ladies League, Fairlawn Couples League and Foxridge Ladies League. She was also a member of the Southern Maine Women’s Golf Association.

She was adored and will deeply be missed by her Mom, Carol Griggs of Raymond; four godchildren, Mark DiConzo of New York City, Meegan DiConzo of Buxton, Matthew Rubano of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Chelsea Pettingill of South Portland. She also left behind numerous, extended family members and close friends who greatly treasured her friendship and contagious laugh.

She was predeceased by her father, Roy; and brother, Drew (Rocky).
