1951 – 2017

PORTLAND — Dennis “Chet” Wright, 65, a resident of Morse Hill, Jay, died Friday, Jan. 13, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 20, 1951, in Farmington, the son of Dennis B. Wright and Lillian (Knowles) Wright. He attended Jay High School before joining the U.S. Army. On Oct. 17, 1970, at Jay Baptist Church in Jay, he married Donna Kennedy of Cherryfield, who he had met after she had relocated to the Jay area.

Dennis worked throughout the years on the family farm and cutting wood, he also worked at Norwalk Shoe in Wilton, Franklin Shoe in Farmington and for the Town of Jay. He enjoyed country music, hunting, fishing, cruising up around the mountain, but especially time spent with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Wright of Jay; his children, Lisa Hopkins and her husband, Eric, of Winslow, Gary Wright and his wife, Beth, of Jay, and Kevin Wright and his companion, Jakelynn, Crosby of Livermore; five grandchildren, Caitlin Wright, Gary Wright Jr., John DeWitt, Ryley Wright and Paytyn Wright; his mother, Lillian Wright of Jay, his siblings, Debbie Packard and her husband, Richard, of Bean’s Corner and Larry Wright of Jay; his brother-in-law, Lloyd Latham of Jay; his nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Dennis Wright in 1989; his sisters, Barbie Wright in 1961, and Linda Latham in 2008; his father-in-law, David Kennedy in 1989; and mother-in-law, Evon Kennedy in 2014.
