WALES — Oak Hill High School’s Little Theatre in the Woods will present “Shrek, The Musical,”  Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20 and 21, at  7 p.m. and Sunday, Jan.22, at 2 p.m.  Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, “Shrek, The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (“Thoroughly Modern Millie”) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. “Shrek” brings all the beloved characters from the film to life on stage and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.

“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek …” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey (played by Nik Peterson) and a feisty princess (played by Michaela Gervais) who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy (played by James Greenwood), a cookie with an attitude (played by Kyle Severance) and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand — and his name is Shrek (played by Noah LeClair). Irreverently fun for the whole family, “Shrek” proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

Rounding off the cast are Haley Gunn, Jared Chase, Daisy Cole, Hayley Salger, Susan Stinson, Kaitlyn Lemay, Kim Stinson, Grace Woodard, Maggie Grayson, Leah Herrick, Rachel Lovell, Katie Daigle, Emma Curtis, Izik Juray, Heaven Martin, Max Hill, Hailey Bean, Casey Daigle, and Elise Worth.

Direction is provided by Lucy Rioux, with musical directors, Gary Fuller and Jason Paquette, along with accompanist, Rebecca Caron. Ticket are $5 for students and $8 for general admission and can be purchased at the door.  FMI, email Lucy Rioux at [email protected] or call 375-6961, ext 112.
