1930 – 2017
GULFPORT, Fla. — Laurence W. Bryant, 86, a resident Jay and Gulfport, Fla., passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 8, at his home in Gulfport, Fla.
He was born Aug. 14, 1930, in Jay, the son of Lauriston Bryant and Arlene (Tweedie) Bryant. Laurence was a 1949 graduate of Jay High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
On July 2, 1951, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, he married Irene Grondin. Laurence worked for International Paper at the Otis and Androscoggin Mills in Jay. He retired in 1994.
He was a member of the American Legion, George Bunton Post 10 in Livermore Falls and the International Paper Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed traveling and fishing in the Allagash, his weekly cribbage games with his three buddies and playing shuffleboard on the Beachway Park Team.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irene Bryant of Jay and Florida; his daughters, Cathy Leclair and her husband, Normand, of Jay and Linda Vail and her husband, Robert, of Cumberland; his son, Brent Bryant and his wife, Monica, of Hollis; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert Bryant and his wife, Phyllis, of Livermore and Gulfport, Fla., Donald Bryant of Jay and Kermit Bryant and his wife, Paulette, of Jay, his twin, Clarence Bryant of Livermore; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and grandchildren, Anthony Leclair and Kristen French.
