1954 – 2017

LISBON — Diane Lantis, 62, died Sunday, Jan. 15, with her loving husband and family at her side. She fought a yearlong battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer that spread to her brain.

She was born Aug. 15, 1954, in Lewiston, the daughter of Frances Allen and Eugene Driscoll. She was a beautiful wife, cherished mother, grammie, sister, aunt and friend.

Diane left the world like a rainbow quickly passing. She will be forever missed. She was a fighter who faced death with unmatched courage, always holding onto her faith. Diane left us an example to live by; not only in her death but living her life. All of us have a story of her faithfulness and forgiveness when we didn’t deserve it. She was constant in her love and prayers.

Diane loved animals, especially her dog, Daisy, cats and fish. She also enjoyed feeding the birds. But, what she enjoyed most was being with her grandchildren, including five granddaughters, Olivia, Ashley, Hannah, Briella and Delilah; and two grandsons, Wesley and Sawyer. She made each one feel like they were the most special one, with nicknames for them all.

Diane loved going to the ocean with her family and having cookouts. She loved Reid State Park and Bailey Island with trips often ending in cooking crabs and lobsters in a backyard fire. She enjoyed all of the simple gifts of life and deserved more time with her family who miss her dearly. She loved everything: butterflies, rich soil, flowers, trees and puffy clouds in a blue sky. The only thing she didn’t love was thunderstorms.

She is survived by Kurt, her loving husband of 30 years; her two sons, Ron Hills and spouse, Sarah, and Jason Flood; a daughter, Sherrie Hills; her brothers, Bob Driscoll and spouse, Brenda, Jerry Driscoll and spouse, Carol; her three sisters, Margie Campise and husband, Campie, Mary Newton and husband, Richard, and Debbie Driscoll; seven grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart.
