1938 – 2017
JAY — Maurice “Moe” Perreault, 78, a lifelong resident of Jay, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, at his home that he built in Jay, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Aug. 24, 1938, in Jay, the son of Aime Perreault and Laura (Simard) Perreault. Moe graduated from St. Rose of Lima School in 1954 and was a 1958 graduate of Jay High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. On Sept. 8, 1962, at St. Rose of Lima Church, he married Carol Cote of Livermore Falls.
Moe went to work for International Paper in 1958 and returned after his military service in 1963. He worked in Jay at the Otis Mill and later at the Androscoggin Mill, until his retirement. He was a member of the International Paper Quarter Century Club. He was most comfortable on his tractor on his wood lot. His love of nature carried on to his three children, Derek, Steven and Susan. He was proud of his French heritage, he loved history, especially researching World War II books. Moe was a loving grandfather who adored his grandchildren, Mathew, Allison, Abby, Morgan and Fiona.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Perreault of Jay; his children, Derek Perreault and his wife, Dawn, of Venice, Fla.; Steven Perreault of Windham and Susan Perreault of Waitsfield, Vt.; his five grandchildren; his brother, Robert Perreault and his wife, Jeannine; his sister, Leanne Wood and her husband, Barry; and his sister-in-law, Rae Perreault.
He was predeceased by his parents, Aime and Laura Perreault; his sister, Anita Castonguay; and his brother, Roger “Fat” Perreault.
