Marijuana ban
What happened: Selectman Tom Curtis again tried to impress upon the board the need to represent those who voted against legalizing marijuana in November by banning marijuana retail and social clubs in Norway. Town Manager David Holt said the board could not do that, the voters have to.
What it means: Selectmen can draft an ordinance to ban, temporarily ban or partially ban marijuana retail outlets and social clubs, and present it to voters in June .
What’s next: No action was taken.
Criminal forfeiture
What happened: Selectmen voted unanimously to accept $800 forfeited in a drug case.
What it means: The Norway Police Department worked with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency in arresting Johnathan Keefe, who was found guilty of aggravated trafficking in heroin. The court ordered the $1,600 in cash seized to be split between the agencies.
