STATEWIDE — A nasty nor’easter will provide central and southern Maine with a myriad of precipitation types Monday night through Tuesday.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Monday night into Tuesday.

It will start Monday night with heavy snow, which will quickly accumulate before a changeover occurs.

Most of the snow changes over to sleet and freezing rain overnight, but snow should continue to the extreme north.

By Tuesday morning, it looks like rain along the immediate coastline, with freezing rain inland, and snow by the mountains.

By Tuesday afternoon, the plain rain will gradually make its way across the interior.

Freezing rain will coat surfaces in ice, making travel treacherous. It will also weigh down trees.

The iced branches, along with 30-40 mph wind gusts will likely lead to scattered power outages.

The storm should be gone by Wednesday morning, as temperatures soar into the 40s for a couple days, allowing for melting.
