TOPS Dixfield celebrates 30th
DIXFIELD — TOPS (Take Off Pounds Responsibly) No. 157 will celebrate 30 years at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. All current and past members may attend.
The weigh in will be held at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m.
The guest speaker will be State of Maine TOPS coordinator Rick Danforth and State of Maine area captain Pam Witham.

Benefit for fire chief still planned
RUMFORD — A benefit the Wentzell family to cover the medical expenses acrued by Gary Wentzell during his fight with cancer will be held Saturday, Jan. 28.
There will be a meal, entertainment, auctions and raffles.
Entertainment will be provided from noon to 11 p.m. featuring Ralph Arsenault, Fair Enough, Fat & Jacked and Monsta.
A live auction will start at 7 p.m. with auctioneer Mike Brennick. There will also be a Chinese auction, a 50/50 and raffles.
Those who have donated pies and items for the meal should please bring them to the hall by 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Legion helping Special Olympians
FARMINGTON — The Farmington American Legion Auxiliary will become a way station for athletes on the way to Sugarloaf for the Special Olympics Sunday, Jan. 29.
The Auxiliary will serve a meal, beverages, snacks and drinks for the ride to Sugarloaf. The Auxiliary has done this for more than 30 years serving as many as 200 meals some years.
The American Legion will open at 11 a.m., and the athletes will arrive by car or busload throughout the afternoon, until about 3 or 4 p.m.

Greenwood Farmers Market open weekly
LOCKE MILLS — The Greenwood Farmers Market, a year-round market featuring local producers and artists, is extending its hours to be open every Friday in January and February.
The market will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Greenwood Town Hall on Route 26.
Shoppers can taste free coffee, pick up a calendar and meet local farmers.
The market also accepts SNAP and food stamps. A funded project makes it easy for SNAP recipients to receive two $5 coupons to use to purchase food from any of the vendors by showing identification at the market.
VFW Post 9787 meeting
PARIS — Floyd A. Harlow Jr. VFW Post 9787 will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the 58 East Main St.
