Arts, crafts for sale;
kids’ activities, plus
metalwork and ice carving

AUBURN — Friday through Sunday, Jan. 27-29, L/A Arts will present a pop-up café/cabaret, Fire & Ice, during the 2017 Auburn Winter Fest. In an intimate nightclub setting, L/A Arts will showcase the jazz quartet Tom Porter & Friends on Friday, Jan.27, 5:30 to 9 p.m.; jazz/funk/Afrobeat trio Micromassé in its L-A premiere on Saturday, Jan.28, 5:30 to 9 p.m. and a jazz brunch with guitar/bass duo Three Point Jazz on Sunday, Jan.29, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Throughout the weekend there will be a selection of fine art and crafts for sale, just in time for Valentine’s shopping, and a menu of Asian-French inspired food and drink from Chef Zach Pratt of Boba.

On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, kids and families can enjoy Valentine-making craft activities indoors while outdoors on Saturday, the New England School of Metalwork and SubZero Ice Carvings will present demonstrations of metal forging and ice sculpting. Also on Saturday afternoon, the teen sewing program at the Root Cellar will present two fashion shows. The events will wrap at 4 p.m., when the metal snowflake sculpture made by NESM will be auctioned off, with proceeds to benefit L/A Arts.

The artists whose work will be shown and for sale are: Luc Demers, photography; Jody Dube, ceramics; Ellipsem Jewelry; Jung Hur, painting; Crystal Nicholas, painting/prints; Heather Perry, fine jewelry; Greg Shattenberg, letterpress/prints; Gail Skudera, woven mixed media.
