Texas hold ’em poker

PARIS — The AMVETS’ monthly Texas hold ’em poker tournaments will be held at 6 p.m. on the first Friday of the month at the VFW Hall at 58 East Main St. 

The next tournament will be Friday, Feb. 3.

The doors and the kitchen will open at 5 p.m. There will be a 50/50 raffle.

Tree Street director at West Parish

BETHEL — Julia Sleeper, co-founder and current director of Tree Street Youth in Lewiston, will talk about her work with refugees at a church potluck and discussion at Friday, Feb. 3, at West Parish Congregational Church.

Those attending should bring a dish to share for the potluck at 6 p.m.

Sleeper’s talk will begin at 6:45 p.m.

Donations will be accepted to benefit the Tree Street Youth activities.

The snow date will be Saturday, Feb. 4.

Free Open Observatory Night planned

PARIS — The free, monthly Open Observatory Night will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, or Saturday, Feb. 4, at Twitchell Observatory on Hooper Ledge Road, if skies are clear.

The confirmed date will be posted on the website, as well as any postponement announcements.

Harris House offering CPR class

LIVERMORE FALLS — In honor of Heart Health Month, Harris House will offer a community CPR class at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

This will be a National Safety Council BLS adult and pediatric CPR class and will cost $35 to be certified. Certification is good for two years.

If enough people are interested, the CPR class will be followed by a standard first aid class. CPR and the first aid class combined will cost $60.

Bridge club lists results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club winners on Jan. 20 were, first in Flights A, B and C, Denny Raymond and Jim Dickens; tied for second and third in A , Neanie Kivus and Clare Lyons with Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; fourth in A and second in B and C, Arlene Riis and Elaine Dresser; third in B, Cynthia and Bill Clifford Jr.; fourth in B, Milt McKeen Jr. and Jim Krainin; and, third in C, B.J. and Steve Cavicchi.

Games are played at 9:15 a.m. Fridays in the Oxford Recreation building on King Street. Games will be canceled if Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School cancels school for inclement weather. A partner is guaranteed, and all bridge players are welcome.
