1944 – 2017
AUBURN — Frederick R. Milligan Jr., 72, died Friday, Jan. 27, at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was a resident of South Rumford Road, Rumford.
Born in Lewiston, on Nov. 22, 1944, he was a son of Frederick and Marjorie (Raye) Milligan Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1967. Fred graduated from Stephens High School, Class of 1963 and attended Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Auburn. He worked in the electrical and instrumentation department at S.D. Warren and Sappi Paper Mill for more than 26 years.
Fred was a member of the Napoleon Ouellette Post No. 24 American Legion, Robert Shand Post No. 1641, VFW, Rumford, Maine Lodge No. 862, BPOE, Rumford Falls Aerie No. 1246, FOE, Messalonskee Masonic Lodge No. 113 and was past district deputy for Grand Lodge, and was also a member of the Oakdale Country Club in Mexico. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and taking road trips with his motorcycle.
He was married in Oakland, on July 12, 1982, to Susan French who died in Lewiston, on July 28, 2015.
Survivors include his daughter, Erika Bickford and her husband, Keith, of Rumford; his son, David Milligan of Rumford; his mother, Marjorie Milligan of Miami, Fla.; stepsons, Christopher Teague and his companion, Katie Therriault, of Portland and Robert Teague Jr. of South Portland; grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, Mason, Olivia, Ashleigh, Christopher, Michael, Josh and Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Spencer and Arabelle; his sister, Deborah Mazza of Miami, Fla., and her children, Naomi Barbosa and Jade Galasso.
