HEBRON — Franceska Halloran and Maddy New both drained six 3-pointers to shoot host Hebron Academy past Pine Tree Academy, 59-54, in girls’ basketball action Monday night.

New got the long ball started for the Lumberjacks (8-5), hitting four 3s in the first quarter to put Hebron up 17-11.

That lead grew to eight by halftime, then the Lumberjacks opened the third quarter on an 8-0 run, highlighted by a pair of Halloran 3s, to push the lead to 16.

The Breakers (9-4) cut the deficit to five with 2:30 left in the game, but Halloran’s final trey was the nail in the coffin.

New edged out Halloran for the team-high in points, scoring 22 to Halloran’s 20. Alexandra Goodman scored a game-high 27 points, and Adriana DePalma added 12 for Pine Tree Academy.

Edward Little 39, Lewiston 38

AUBURN — Ben Dumont’s final basket was his most important, with his 3-pointer in the final seconds giving host Edward Little a 39-38 victory over Lewiston in a unified basketball game on Monday night.

Dumont led the Red Eddies (1-1) with 17 points, while Carter Culleton added 12. For the Blue Devils (0-1), Travis Maier had 12 points and Connor Jewett nine.

Women’s basketball

CMCC 53, UMaine-Augusta 44

AUBURN — Jenny Schlim poured in a game-high 18 points to lift host Central Maine Community College to a 53-44 victory over University of Maine-Augusta on Monday night.

Schlim made her mark from the foul line, hitting 6 of 8 free throws. The Mustangs as a team shot 72.7 percent (16 of 22) from the charity stripe to make up for shooting 26.9 percent (18 of 67) from the field, including just 1 of 20 from 3-point range.

Brooke Reynolds added nine points and Eraleena Gethers-Hairston pulled down 14 rebounds for CMCC, which trailed by one entering the fourth quarter.

Jamie Plummer led the Moose with 17 points.
