LEWISTON — Charles W. Hinson, 84, of Auburn died Sunday, Jan. 29, at d’Youville Pavilion following a short illness.
He was born in Norfolk, Va., on May 18, 1932, the son of the late Charles and Katherine (Richardson) Hinson and had been a resident of this community since 1971.
He was a veteran of both the U.S Army and the U.S. Air Force.
He married Anita Y. Pomerleau on Feb. 2, 1952; she died March 10, 2001.
Charles and his wife enjoyed camping, fishing and the outdoors. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by two sons, William Hinson of Winthrop and Steven Hinson and his wife, Kimberly, of Auburn; one daughter, Suzanne Smith and her husband, Adam, of Auburn; one sister, Ankie Wood and her husband, Bill, of Little Rock, Ark.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Donald Hinson, who died Feb. 21, 2015.
