I work at a health care organization in Lewiston and proudly support local businesses with my money. I was dismayed to hear an interview with Lewiston Mayor Bob Macdonald about General Assistance for asylum seekers. He stated that “those people” are victimizing the people of Lewiston by making residents support them.

His words are misleading and insulting to people fleeing persecution.

Lewiston needs people who bring ideas, start up businesses, families and new tax revenue. It is time to tell the truth and call out leaders who spread fear and falsehoods.
