LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced its February programming. All programs are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted.
Women’s Healing Circle: Thursdays, Feb. 2, 16 and 23. The center will continue to host Dr. Maryam Mermay as she leads a circle intended for women seeking to heal from the loss of a loved one, a relationship, an ability, one’s home, the loss of one’s sense of self or any other source of grief through a lifegiving and playful connection with the arts.
Bates student presentation: Wednesday, Feb. 8. The center will host Ali, a Bates student who interned summer of 2016, helping to garden and produce calendula salve and other garden products which were sold at the farmers market. Ali will present her thesis, a Summer with CWW.
Peasant Pantry Café: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9. The Peasant Pantry Café features one-pot sustainable meals from different countries. This month, a Japanese dish, Yasai Itame, stir-fried vegetables, will be served. The meal is open to the public, and the cost is by donation.
Volunteer Appreciation Party: Tuesday, Feb. 14. The center will host an annual appreciation party for the women who volunteered at The Center in 2016, with light brunch, games and gifts.
L-A Women Rising Breakfast: Wednesday, Feb. 15. The center will host breakfast for L-A Women Rising, local women who build an ongoing network of support and advocacy around the issue of violence against women and girls.
Singing Circle: 4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays. The center will provide an opportunity for local women to come together and sing a variety of songs. Open to the public.
ACE’s Resiliency Workshop: Friday, Feb. 17. This is a continuation of last month’s workshops about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and adult resiliency.
Self-esteem: Tuesday, Feb. 21. The Center will have an open discussion about self-esteem and what it means, as well as how to obtain skills in confidence.
Art Van: Wednesday, Feb. 22.
February Birthday Celebration: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22. February birthdays will be celebrated.
Clothing Giveaway: Thursday, Feb. 23. The center will hold a clothing giveaway during this daylong event.
Bingo: Tuesday, Feb. 28.
The center’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays. All women are welcome; programs are offered free and no appointments are needed. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily, and the center has a shower to use.
The Center will be closed when Lewiston-Auburn schools are closed due to inclement weather. It will also be closed on Monday, Feb. 20, for the Presidents’ Day holiday.
