While the public should enjoy a vigorous debate on the merits of joining Lewiston and Auburn, I am concerned that the discussion and comments haven’t always remained professional. Constituents and elected officials alike have occasionally stooped to thinly-veiled personal attacks and innuendos focused on members of the Lewiston-Auburn Joint Charter Commission.
Members of the Commission have done more for the Twin Cities than many people will ever know. All six are pillars of their communities and businesses, whose contributions have advanced the Twin Cities in a multitude of ways. They have given selflessly to the cities in which they live, and their reputations are unassailable.
Irrespective of any personal position on the issue, we should feel honored and thankful for the commissioners’ life-long service to Lewiston and Auburn.
