LEWISTON — The popular Les Troubadours will perform for this month’s La Rencontre (“the gathering”) at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St.

La Rencontre is in no way restricted to French-speakers or even those of Franco descent. All are welcome to attend this fun monthly meal and event as long as spots remain open. The meal will be chicken fricassee.

After lunch, Dr. Beata A. Bajgierowicz, a cardiologist at Central Maine Heart & Vascular Institute will present “Hypertension (high blood pressure) Stop It, Control It” as part of the “Healthy Gathering” series presented by Central Maine Community College and St. Mary’s Hospital.

Bajgierowicz will talk about the importance of reducing and managing blood pressure and how it can lower the likelihood of heart attack, stroke and death.

The day will conclude the show by “Les Troubadours” on the Performance Hall stage, and several raffle prizes will be drawn.

The cost of the meal and the programs is $10 per person. 2017 Season passes — all 11 remaining events, including the lobster roll luncheon — can still be purchased for just $89. The doors and the bar open at 10 a.m., and the Gcenter is handicapped-accessible.
