1927 – 2017
HARTFORD — Beulah H. Brown, 89, a lifetime resident of Hartford, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at her home in Hartford with family nearby. Beulah lived a long, faithful life — faithful to her Lord, family, church, friends and her community. She went to be with her Lord on the same day as her loving husband, Stanley, 13 years prior.
Beulah was born June 19, 1927, to Helen Keene Bragg and Frank Bragg in Hartford. Beulah was born and raised on the farm on Bragg Hill. She attended schools in Hartford and Canton. She married the love of her life, Stanley Brown, on Dec. 2, 1944. Beulah and Stanley were married for 59 years. Beulah was a town clerk for many years out of her own home. She was a member of the Hartford Community Church for more than 50 years. Beulah was also a member of the Hartford Heritage Society, Hartford Women’s Group, Hartford Historical Society, Hartford Cemetery Association and Maple Grove Cemetery Association where she served as treasurer.
Beulah lived life to the fullest and had many friends. Beulah loved dearly her family and had many hours of enjoyment watching and teaching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, gardener, homemaker, seamstress, squirrel-eliminating farm girl. Beulah was a treasurer for many groups and associations. She enjoyed her time with the women’s group and craft fairs. Special thanks to neighbors, Betty Plumley and Terri Hinkley for providing transportation and companionship to and from church. Of Beulah’s many hobbies, she loved to feed and watch her birds. Beulah was proud to be able to keep her home warm with her wood furnace all of her life. Beulah enjoyed her special neighbor and friend of 61 years, Francis Wallace. Francis has shared many of life’s highs and lows with Beulah. Our families have grown together for many years.
She is survived by three sons, James Brown Sr. and wife, Dorothy, of Dade City, Fla., Wesley Brown and wife, Paula, of Hartford, John Brown and wife, Patty, of Hartford; two daughters, Cindy Violette and husband, Kenneth, of Auburn and Diane Jeselskis and husband, Richard, of Buckfield; grandchildren, James Jr., Eric, Heather, Lloyd, Tracy, Jana, Dianne, Kevin, Justin, Jason, Justin, Anthony, Cameron, Stephany, Taylor, Lea, Michael and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Bryon, Matthew, Lauren, Jared, Chase, Faith, Alex, Evan, Katie, Caleb, Mia, Sophia, Spencer, Evan, Payton, Alana, Olivia and Callen; sister, Iva Graves and husband, William, and sister-in-law, Genesta Brown.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Stanley, on Feb. 1, 2004; two brothers; and two sisters.
